Mode of Action
- Alpha-Lipoic Acid is a fatty acid which performs two roles in the body:
- It is involved in generating energy from food and oxygen
- It performs as an antioxidant in a manner similar to B-complex vitamins
Drug Interactions
- May reduce the amount of insulin or oral hypoglycemic medication required by diabetics.
Cautions
- Not recommended for use when pregnant or nursing without supervision by a knowledgeable health care practitioner.
- Person taking diabetes medications should monitor their blood sugars carefully after starting alpha lipoic acid.
Recommended Dose
- Take two capsules daily with water, or as
directed by a health professional. For extended
use: consult a health professional.
