Acidophilus
(Lactobacillus acidophilus)

Mode of Action
  • Antibiotics like penicillin, erythromycin, tetracycline and others not only kill bacteria that make you ill, they also kill bacteria that normally live in your body and assist digestion. Acidophilus reestablishes  those "good" bacteria in your intestine
  • Acidophilus produces byproducts that fight and inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria such as Proteus, Escherichia, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus
Drug Interactions
  • Don’t take acidophilus at the same time as antibiotics (particularly sulfa drugs). Wait 2-3 hours after taking your drugs before ingesting acidophilus
  • Acidophilus interferes with the work of sulphasalazine
  • Alcohol partly counteracts the beneficial effects of acidophilus use
