- Stimulates peristalsis, the muscle
action that pushes food through the intestine
- The primary active ingredients are sennosides A
and B
Drug Interactions
- Excessive use may lead to increased potassium
loss and digoxin toxicity
Cautions
- Do not take for more than 10 days at
a time
- Avoid in suspected intestinal
obstruction, inflammatory bowel disease and colitis
- Avoid during pregnancy
- Do not give to children under 12 years of age
Recommended Dose
- 150-300 mg at bedtime. (Dose may vary from
brand to brand)
