- Assists in the prevention and relief
of migraine headaches
- Rheumatoid arthritis
Mode of Action
- Contains sesquinterpene lactones including
parthenolide which inhibit the release of the hormone serotonin, which is
believed to trigger migraines
- They also suppress the production of
inflammation causing prostaglandins.
Drug Interactions
- May increase the effects of anticoagulant
therapy. Do not take if taking warfarin, heparin or any other blood
thinning drugs
Cautions
- Sensitive individuals may develop
contact dermatitis (skin rash) with prolonged use
- Do not take during pregnancy or
while breast feeding
- Do not give to children under the
age of two
- May cause upset stomach
- May cause mouth ulceration in
sensitive people
- People who stop taking feverfew may suffer from
Post-feverfew syndrome including nervousness, tension, fatigue and
joint-ache
Recommended Dose
- 140 mg once a day containing a minimum 0.2% parthenolide (for 280 mcg parthenolide).
- Do not exceed 1000 mcg of parthenolide per day.
